Derwent Pencils interview

I have answered a few questions about working as an illustrator for Derwent pencil’s blog. I used some Derwent pencils to produce a drawing of Cumbria based on a trip I went on to Lake Windermere.

Lumberjack

Here’s a 20 second silent animation I worked on recently for Smile for London short film competition. Have a look at the film on the Smile for London group page and if you log in or sign up and ‘like’ the lumberjack film you might see it on the London Underground.

Make Maps

I recently completed this drawing for Adam Hayes’ Make maps project, that you can read about and see some beautifully illustrated maps at www.make-maps.blogspot.com. My map is the place where I had the most fun I have ever had. Kind of a place where I felt I belonged when I was young.

Pirates Deep

When I was 5 years old there was only one place to have your birthday, it was called Pirates Deep, an indoor Pirate themed adventure play centre underneath one of the arches on Brighton seafront. It was a childs paradise of ball pits, nets, slides, inflatable characters, obstacles, bouncy things, ropes, tunnels and padded Velcro shapes. Looking back it seemed like it was invented before health and safety, as there didn’t appear to be any rules you could really just go mental. It isn’t there anymore.

Thunder Chunky Xmas project

For the second year now I have contributed to Thunder Chunky’s Xmas project. A new drawing is revealed everyday (advent calender style) and mine is today. I have continued with the ‘Suicidal Santa’ idea and this year Santa is elaborately pouring extremely poisonous snakes down a chimney that he will climb down.
